One of the largest paint removal projects CPL t/a Rainbow Restoration undertook in recent years, was from building contractor, Martin & Bowles. This involved completely removing the old, flaking paint, on an iconic building down on the Sussex coast, in preparation for repainting. Marine Court is a 14-storey building situated in St. Leonards, near Hastings.
Built in the 1930s, it was originally designed to look like the transatlantic cruise ship, The Queen Mary. As the property was awarded Grade II listed building status in 1999, it was crucial that the paint removal did not cause any harm or shock to the substrate and that any materials used complied with listed building requirements.
Martin & Bowles was the main building contractor for the refurbishment of Marine Court, Hastings. The project required experts to efficiently carry out the paint removal using the DOFF system, all whilst working a height.
CPL t/a Rainbow Restoration have invested in state-of-the-art equipment, including the DOFF system which is renowned in the specialist cleaning services industry for its effectiveness at removing dirt, grime, mould, algae, moss, fungi, other biological matter, chewing gum, mud, loose paint & graffiti.
We know exactly how to deal with restoring sensitive brick surfaces such as sandstone, limestone or concrete surfaces and have used the DOFF system on a variety of small and large buildings, factories and warehouses. It can also be used to sterilise industrial kitchens, swimming pools, toilets and medical facilities.

Utilising the powerful capabilities of steam, the DOFF system achieves exceptional cleaning, heating the water to 150°C to create the most effective steam cleaning system. The pressure and temperature of the water is easily adjusted by the operator, making the DOFF system a versatile solution for a variety of stubborn marks, including paint removal. DOFF does not use high pressures, so it is unlikely to damage the surfaces targeted. As the water and steam are at such high temperatures it often means chemicals or cleaning products are not required for cleaning buildings, so it can be environmentally friendly as well as energy efficient. Therefore, it is perfect to be used on many exterior and interior surfaces, including floors, walls, steps, pavements, concrete, stone, cladding, tiles and wood as well as for paint and graffiti removal.
Occasionally, chemicals may sometimes be required to loosen the paint prior to using the DOFF system. The unusual shape of the Marine Court, Hastings, made the job even more tricky, but CPL rose to this challenge, successfully meeting the expectations of the client. CPL t/a Rainbow International have always been at the forefront of innovative specialist cleaning solutions and have extensive experience cleaning listed buildings including Victorian, Georgian or other period properties and carefully follow conservation guidelines.
